I was priviliged to cater two ice cream parties at the White House and Executive Office Building. The first was for President Clinton's legal staff, and another when First Lady Hillary Clinton bade farewell to several retiring staff members. Top that, Ben or Jerry!
While the business grew steadily for four years, the landlady sold the buildings and developers moved most of the old tenants out and brought in more corporate looking tenants.
I've retired from tax preparation and am very happy that Marcio is now our Chief Preparer.
I ran other people’s high end retail businesses for over 25 years. In 1996 I opened two businesses, Uptown Scoop, Washington DC's coolest ice cream store, and Let Larry Do It, a tax preparation service. That was a great, although unusual combination. I used my Connecticut Avenue storefront to advertise “The Only Legal Way to Fudge Your Taxes” and “Let Larry Do Your Taxes While You Eat Ice Cream.” We got some media attention. I catered two ice cream parties at the White House and Executive Office Building. (Top that, Ben or Jerry!)
" Uptown Scoop closed in 2000 when the the building was sold. NBC-4 covered the event."
